Two tone horizontal striped lined moulded candlesMore articles
This article assumes some knowledge of candle making. If you're a complete beginner, why not try one of our candle making kits first. They all come with a free "How to make candles" booklet.Fit your mould as normal with a wick. Then seal half of the top hole with mould sealer or blue tack. Lay your mould on it's side and using a funnel carefully pour in the wax. After it has cooled a little, look to see if there has been any setteling of the wax around the top and sides and top up if necessary. After it has set but not fully cooled. Right the mould and pour in the other colour for the other side.
Or if using the ball mould, pour in one colour, let it set and turn the mould 180 degrees and do the same with exactly the same amount. After some cooling, right the mould and pour in the other colour. This gives vertical stripes either side of a broad middle band.
How about the above except with an extra two thin pours to give thin stripes either side of the middle band.
Making basic candles is not difficult, but getting perfect results takes time and practice. Never leave a lit candle unatended, below or close to other objects. Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
