Pillar candle arrangementsMore articles
This article assumes some knowledge of candle making. If you're a complete beginner, why not try one of our candle making kits first. They all come with a free "How to make candles" booklet. Now that you have mastered how to consistantly make good moulded pillar candles, try making a simple arrangement.
With a pillar mould the diameter is determined by the diameter of the mould, so you have no control over this dimension, but the height of your candle is your choice.
Using the same mould, make three different height candles. One as tall as the mould will allow, another much smaller and lastly middle sized.
Experiment with colours. So, you could try contrasting colours or different shades of the same colour. How about two the same colour and one different. The latter is my favourite. I like subtle coulours for this arrangement. Perhaps a brown with a couple of shades of grey.
If you have ready coloured wax, try mixing the colours. So, take two colours and use one as is for one candle, another candle with a mix of two parts of one colour and one of another, and so on.
Display together side by side on a tray or dish.
Making basic candles is not difficult, but getting perfect results takes time and practice. Never leave a lit candle unatended, below or close to other objects. Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
