Things you'll need:-
- Mixing bowl.
- Mould to make the shape of the holder, e.g. a glass or container.
- PVA glue
- Candle / Tea-light
Roughly measure required sand. Empty into your mixing bowl. Keep adding glue until the sand is damp. If you're unsure if you've added enough glue, add a bit more.
Pat down the sand to remove any air gaps. Flatten the top and then press your candle/ tea-light into the sand, until you achieve your desired shape. Leave the candle / tea-light in place. Re-flatten the top and leave to dry.
After it has dried, remove from the mould / glass and decorate
Want to take this further? Decorate with sequins, stick on gems, ribbon or whatever. How about adding paint into the sand glue mix? How about adding pebbles, coins or other object to the mould before you add the glue and sand mix?
Making basic candles is not difficult, but getting perfect results takes time and practice. Never leave a lit candle unatended, below or close to other objects. Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
